DVD-ROM not working

Since I have installed XP, my DVD does not play DVDs anymore. I have two drives, a cd-rw and this one. The cd-rw is fine, but the DVD only works as a cd-rom. Can someone tell me a way to fix this problem?

what DVD software are you using to play them? have you tried winDVD or powerDVD

When you are "my computer" does the drive icon have "dvd" on it? Also what drive letter is assigned to it?

Yes, It has DVD across it and it is drive E, and i have tried winDVD but not the other, I will try that.
