Sorry, not sure where to put this thread since it's not computer related.

Does anyone know what DVD formats are supported on the Sony DAV-S300 HTK?
I can't seem to find the manual for the thing and can't find it online either. I also have a feeling that the DVD formats won't be mentioned in the user manuals anyway, because this machine came on to the market before the DVD writers became widely available to consumers.

Any ideas?

nice find... i couldn't remember that website. :p
strange though... i couldn't get my dvd+rw to play on the machine. :(

rep for you.

I have a toshiba that will not play any type of burned disc. Thre is a firmware upgrade that will allow it to play certain types of burnable discs. It has to do with two things as per Toshiba technical dept.

1) Focal length
2) Reflective-refractive and or absorbtion of LED light.

I was told that some media will not be read as the focal length for the dye to the reflective surface is out of spec. And that the difference between the "burned" dye and the "unburned" dye isn't enough for the photo sensor to pick up the code. As it will not absorb or defract enough light.

Ming, check the same site, and see if your DVD has a hack, sometimes this will let you play DVD with no region limitations among other stuff.

Mine is already multi-region when I bought it. :p
Just having difficulty getting recorded DVDs to work on it.

Ming > Thanks

Steevo > I have the Toshiba SD 1600 the only burned disk's I could get to play are the Verbatim-r dvd's so I've stuck with them for that reason. (they work every time for me)

I would try some of the media listed in the "DVD media comments" section here.

I would like to... but never heard of most of those listed. Probably not available in the UK.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
