Dual Monitor Help?

I just hooked up my second monitor through the DVI port using A DVI->VGA adapter. First off I was wondering if anyone knew a good page to read up on this or maybe an older post! Second my whole reasoning hooking up two monitors was to watch Tv through my TV-card on one monitor and work or play on the other. When ever I drag my TV to the secondary screen the picture goes out. Anyone know the reason why?

this is probably because your card only supports overlays (videos) on the primary display. any player on the secondary display will only show a black window.

possible solution: make the tv display the primary one and work/play on the secondary. you don't have to physically move them around; it should be easy to select which is primary in your video settings.
