as EP says, it's normally more than one machine attacking just the one.
If you're "lucky" you may just be attacked by a single person and able to get their info from incoming data (ie: get the IP, find the ISP, report abuse and stop the attacks)
you can trace the locations of the packets, report those attacks to the owners of the machines and get them to clean out their PC. If they can send you a copy of the bot that is on their machine then you can disassemble it and find out how it is controlled (a lot from IRC Networks and channels)
Then go and ***** at that networks IRC Opers
