Doom 3 problems

Didn't want to post this under the games section since it's not as popular, and a game is an application anyway, right? :)

Anyways, my game is saved at the very end of Delta Labs 3. When I complete that level and start to load Delta Labs 4, the loading bar gets about 1/4 of the way then Doom 3 crashes back to the main menu with no sound.

I had this problem a couple levels before, but once it crashed back to the main menu, I could then try and load the level again and it would load, but it would play very choppy.

Now everytime I try to load Delta Labs 4, it just crashes back to the desktop. I can't figure out what is causing the problem. I'm using the 61.77 drivers and the latest SB Audigy drivers. I also tried disabling my soundcard, which didn't help, so it's not a sound issue. I've got the latest chipset drivers installed, along with the latest BIOS. I disable Norton Antivirus and ZoneAlarm and close EVERYTHING else out, but it still will not load. I also tried using the cheatcode to just load straight to Delta Labs 4, but it will not do the trick.

Graphic settings are at 1024x768, all effects set on, medium texture quality. Any ideas are welcome, I really want to finish this game.

this belongs under the games section.... thats why the games section is there.

Wrong. Its belongs here and its staying. Using that logic everything would be posted in the green room

1. Legit copy of game?

2. Try deleting or renaming your doomconfig.cfg to doomconfig.bak in the base folder and let the game rebuild it. Then try running the game on default setting as it sounds like you are tweaking something your hardware can not handle. Tweak one thing at a time and not all at once if you are tweaking the setting.

3. Try the 66.72 or 66.81 drivers.

1. No comment. :D Running patch 1.1 though.

2. Tried it, had no effect.

3. Eh ok, might give those a run. Takes a while to download since I'm 56k :(

Just now tried the 66.77 drivers, the problem is exactly the same. Doesn't seem to be a video or sound issue... I'm guessing it's the game itself (my "version" of it anyway).

you might have answered this... but do you have a stock config or have you tweaked it out any?

It's all stock, no overclocking. Never had any problems in any other games. Of course, most of those I do own. I was going to buy Doom 3 but a friend at work was all like "Yeah I'll hook you up!!!!" so I just took it. I would buy it now, only thing is I don't want to have the same problem and have wasted $40.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
