1. run "regedit";
2. goto [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\IoPageLockLimit];
3. modify the value in Hex depending on the size of your RAM:
RAM: modified value(Hex)
64M: 1000;
128M: 4000;
256M: 10000;
512M or more: 40000.
4. reboot.


...That last folder..iopagelocklimit

I don't have that.. any clues??

You'd have to add the iopagelocklimit key.

You seem to be wanting to do alot of tweaking from what i've gathered reading through your posts.

You might consider gettins a program like xteq's x-setup or TweakXP which will allow you to change those types of settings easily without you directly having to edit your registry.

just my 2 cents 🙂

X-TEQ

Deffinitely xteq. It's got a ton more features. It's got a few interface problems, but overall I'd say its the best tweaker avaliable besides the tools windows gives you to mess with it manually

I like Xteq...but I sadly recommend TweakXP.

TweakXP is far easier to use for some things, and xteq does not go into as much detail about some options as tweakxp does..

the only downside is tweak xp is a limited 50 execution trial, whereas xteq is free....

ok this isn't a warez tip just kind of a why do they bother comment...sure you have to buy tweakXP...but all it does is modify the registry...so you can make all the tweaks you want...and just not run tweak xp again..and everything is fine. even if you uninstall tweakxp the changes it made stay...so whats the point in giving out a free trial that expires?

the only problem with tweak xp is that when you "browse" other settings and exit the program it makes some tweaks of its own without you actively knowing... after you get used to it tho, its quite a powerful little app...

What tweaks of it's own does it make and where did you get this info? So far i've seen nothing to show it makes any tweaks you don't choose? I mean it would be easy to find out if it did, I can just do a fresh install on my extra comp and then do a reg compare, but before I goto that extreme i'd like to know what your saying it does.
