Dlink Wireless Router & setting up a program called Piolet

Here's an odd problem, I've been trying to setup the wireless router to be able to allow Piolet run on both the desktop computer and the laptop. The problem is that the router won't let Piolet run on both computers when you set it up as an allow through the firewall. The only way Piolet runs through the router is if you set up one computer on the DMZ, and you can only setup one, not both...

So how exactly can I setup Piolet to run on both computers through the firewall? Piolet either runs on 41170, or 10240-20480 range, and I've tried setting a rule up for each computer, or one rule that covers the IP ranges through the computers, and neither of which worked. Only time it works as I said is when you setup something on the DMZ.

*Sighs*

Just use port forwarding feature on the router to open up the ports.

Already did that, doesn't work for some reason.

If Piolet uses the same ports for incoming connections on both computers, it won't work since they share the same IP. They must use different ports. If you can set them to different ports, do that. Then forward the ports to each computer. You can only forward a port to one computer.

Nope, I don't remember seeing the UPNP setting on the dlink router. Regarding the ports, I can try that, however the one thing that confuses me is that if you look inside the program, you do have an option to specify the port range, I believe default says 10240-20480. What's odd though is that if you put in that port range in the router [if I remember correctly] it still doesn't work. It will only work if you try 41170 for the port...

What would cause it to behave like that?

opening all the ports on a specified IP is just like setting it up like a dmz. Be sure u have the latest firmware for your router. Maybe u can choose a different port on Piolet. Ask the Piolet people if its possible to run more than one instance on a same network.

Well, I know about opening up all of the ports is the same as the DMZ... think there was a misunderstanding there, hehe. What I was saying is that for some reason inside of Piolet, you have the option of specifying ports you want Piolet to use. Default Piolet has those ports setup to 10240-20480, but when you unlock them in the router it doesn't work... only when you use 41170 will Piolet work.

My question was, why is it that Piolet won't run on the ports that are setup inside the program, but will run on 41170? But you're right, that's a question for me to ask them. Problem is I can't find any support sites for them, they have a help section, but no forums or contact us for support options. :dead:

they are incoming and outgoing ports, what kinda ports are those?

Does Piolet specify that port forwarding is needed? Most P2P programs dont need it.

And I WOULDN'T use DMZ, it exposes your computer to the internet and you could get all kinds of garbage on ur system this way since ur not protected by your router.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
