disk boot failure

ok what does it mean when your computer says disk boot failure?
i mean mi computer was until i unpluged ipod before it finished syncing , now every time i turn it on it says "disk boot failure". then it tells me put in system disk but i lost err some threw them away by mistake. so like what can i do?:suprised:

usually it means you have a floppy disk in your floppy drive. At least thats what it meant when mine told me that last weekend

if you have no usb, CD or floppy disks in drives you'll need to find your OS install disk and have it repair the boot files. Otherwise remove all removable/portable media (USB drives, CD's, DVD's, floppy disks, memory sticks, etc and try again.

but where would i get extra os disks Compaq?

If you bought your PC from HP Compaq give them a call and ask for replacement install media

just make sure the drive boot order has not been changed in the bios - that happens on one of my pcs if i leave a usb stick in there - tried to boot from that first
