basically, they are the same thing, but when do you guys use each spelling

i use:

compact disc
flying disc

hard disk drive
floppy disk
zip disk

I use "disc" when it's a round thingy, a disc. 🙂 I use "disk" when it's something else, like a harddisk or floppy disk.
