Those preview thumbnails explorer creates and uses as icons for .avi files are nice and all, but if I open a directory with incomplete avi files (probably just divx) explorer crawls and doesn't recover. How do I tell it to stop trying to generate thumbnail previews, at least for video files?
I've searched, maybe I'm just using the wrong terms.

To solve this problem all you have to do is the following:-
1. Open up regedit
2. Go to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler
3. Delete the "Default" value which should be
"{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}"

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
