Disable DHCP?

I have a Motorola Surfboard SB4200 cable modem that connects directly to my ethernet card. My IP stays the same so long as the modem remains powered. If the power gets disconnected it will get a new IP. How do I disable DHCP?

You don't. Your ISP wants you to use DHCP. Then you use DHCP. If you disable DHCP (set a static IP) then the Internet will most probably not work.

if you can guarantee that your modem will not disconnect, then you can specify the IP in the connection settings... but like Zedric said... if you personally set it, it may not work as sometimes ISPs change the IPs if they're having their own problems :/

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
