I have set up my xp machine to be the host on my com port 1. I have set up my 98SE laptop to be the guest on LPT1. I have a com port to LPT port adapter and everything is hooked up. my firewall is off, if that matters. Why can't I make a direct cable connection? Thank you. I cant do just a com cable connection because the laptop and computer outputs are both female.

Of course they are both female. I hardly think you can do a serial-parallell link. You need a null-modem cable (for serial) or a laplink cable (for parallell). You can't just use any cable. That serial-parallell converter sounds like a regular DSUB9-DSUB25 converter, at least if it's fairly small..

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
