Dimmed avatar icons in forums?

I don't if I'm the one that's crazy of if it's doing that for others too, but sometimes there seem to be some sort of transparent semi-opaque layer over forum avatars when viewing posts... making it look dimmed.

I got the same thing on different PC's using either IE or Firefox.

Check out the screenshot for an example, you'll see what I mean...

Is the Forum team aware of this issue?

I always wondered what that was. My avatar doesn't appear dimmed or opqaue on my computer, and neither do some other people's, but for most I experience the same thing. I'm using firefox, but I don't think it has to do with the browser.

Hehe, the avatars dim if the user is not online. ;)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! It does make sense now, but it should be more obvious than that. Thing is, if you switch to a 16Bits Color display (as in a remote desktop connection for example), that dimmed layer makes the avatar look all funky colors.

Is this part of vBulletin by default or it's something that was added later?

When's the last time anyone ever used 16bit color? :)

~bk pretty much explained it. :)

I can't browse at work like many of us, so I use a Remote Desktop connection to my PC at home and I can't use 24Bits colors or it slows down the redraw too much...

Glad I read this thread! I always wondered why some members have Opaque avatars whilst the majority had partially transparent avatars.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
