digital camera not compatible?

I have a hp photosmart 215, worked fine the first time I downloaded pics. The next time I got colorful lines instead of pics. Tried a million different things with techs hp tech support and they think I should buy a CD(driver). But they don't seem to be sure. They think the camera is not compatible with XP. Has anyone had this prob. Can anyone recommend a good digital camera that is compatible, cause I am ready to return this one but don't want to repeat my mistake!😕 😕

I have the same cam and it works fine. How are you installing the drivers?

To properly install them, do NOT use XP's wizard. Insert the CD (don't plug the cam in), install PhotoImpression and THEN plug the camera in.
