I'm sure lots of you have encountered this: you're in win explorer
tooling around and you see multiple instances of desktop.ini. One in several folders for that matter. Question: why are they there and what causes them to be created? I assume they're safe to delete as I have deleted hordes of them in the few years I've been using Windows products. Any feedback anyone?

The desktop.ini file is created for special folders like My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, the Windows folder etc.
Basically, it gives special properties to the folder like a unique icon, or a background pattern/picture etc.

They're tiny files, and I really don't think you would need to delete them.

They also remember certain viewing properties.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
