how come everytime I reboot, all my desktop icons are moved to the left instead of staying where they are?

Just thougt of something... don't know if it will help or not. Right click on your desktop> Arrange Icons By> make sure the "Align to grid" option is checked. 😕

i unchecked it, but what does it do?

When it's checked, it aligns them to a grid. Unchecked you can move them willy nilly.

You should also uncheck auto arrange...
