I recently bought a new pc with windows xp installed on it. So i transfered one of my old pc's hdd the new pc. The old hdd had winxp installed on it too. is there any way of deleting the windows dir on the hdd without formating? i tried deleting through admin safe mode and explorer but no help =/
thx in advance

One of the features in both Windows 2000 and Windows XP is that the user can not delete critical system files and directories. This is so n00bs cant make some free space by randomly deleting files. So the answer to you question is no. Format is your only option

Actually, this feature is a very good safe guard. As PK mentioned, it protects normal/newbie users from harming his/her system.

Just remember, it's always good to start clean =)

I agree ... format the box and have a nice, clean system to work with :p

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
