i am tryin to delete an empty folder...it is not hidden nor a system file or anything like that.

when i delete it, a dialog come up that says:

cannot read from source file or disc

is there a way tio get rid of this file?
thanks in advance!

try from DOS

RMDIR "name"

or

DEL "name"

if that dont work remove windows file protection using

setsfc , i think waddy put it in the downoads section

go to downloads and type setsfc in the search box

i tried...it didnt work, ive tried doin a scan disk, tried usin the command line , tried the command line in safe mode.

nothing seems to work.
thank you for youur help!
hopefully ill figure it out.

This might sound stupid, but have you tried rebooting? I don't know if it does this in XP, but I know NT does this. If you accessed the folder before trying to delete it, it won't allow you to delete it, because NT seems to believe your still using something in it. A reboot usually fixes that.

If you have Norton Avti-Virus, add the file to the quarintine and then delete it from the quarintine window. Even if the file is not a virus, this process will still delete any stubborn file

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
