Defragmenting in Safe Mode

Can anyone tell me how to go about it? I've heard it makes things a bit quicker since it hasn't loaded the drivers yet, and is able to optimise the system for faster boot-times, etc...

Please give me a detailed step-by-step guide as I usually get things messed up 😉

press f8 as your machine is booting up to get to the safe mode menu, then just defrag as you would normally.
