Got an annoying problem with MSN Messenger atm.
Running Windows XP Pro, Sound Blaster Live! (using standard xp drivers).

I run MSN Messenger (3.6 version, don't like new ones but its still the same) and the latest version of Winamp. Now when i first load Winamp and people come online msn i get this really weird crunching noise a second after the sound for them comin online is played (check the clip u'll see what i mean). After having Winamp open for a while it goes away (i think, its been there for so long that i have kinda gotten used to it but now i want it gone >:)).

Tried installing drivers off the soundblaster website for xp but that didn;t work !

anyone got any ideas? :)

Firstly, do you have sounds enabled? Secondly, I wouldn't think MSNM v3.6 would run correctly under the XP operating system. You should really consider upgrading. If there are features that you dislike, such as the ads, you should download MSNM Plus. Good luck.

erm... it works fine as far as i know... version 4.x has the same problem.

Do i have sounds enabled? what ya mean?

In MSNM, sound preferences:

Tools
Options
Preferences (tab)
Under "Alerts" -- "Play sound when...."

Box checked?

can u tell me what the tune is ur playing in that sound?

sounds kool

and i dont know about the msn login thing

Think i sorted it
i just bumped the sound file up to 48khz :) seems to have stopped it so far :)

the song i was playing was Ian Van Dahl - Reason (Hemstock + Jennings Remix) ;)

thanx for help :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
