Hi. Sorry I'm clueless about networking and stuff. Somehow I managed to set up a crossover cable connection between two XP boxes but now it broke for no apparent reason. I have the main box set up as 192.168.0.1 and the 2nd as .2, with 255.255.255.0 as subnet mask and gateways set up as either empty of each computer pointing to another (the latter worked afair, now it doesn't). Yesterday the main box told me it cannot access the mapped network drive.
Boxes cannto ping each other, even though in tcp monitors/by traffic you can see echo requests are coming but aren't returned. I tried shutting down the firewall on main box, the 2nd one doesn't have any firewall, Windows firewall is disabled on both.
If there's no ideas on how to fix this from existing state, can someone tell me some kind of standard setup for two computers ocnnected via crossover cable, from the start, so that I could reproduce it?
