Hey guys, I see alot of people have been asking people on the forum to critic their websites. That is exactly what I need, so if any of you have time, come and visit BeyondEight.com.

Just so that everyone knows, I am a amature webmaster and I am only doing this for fun. Im sure that everyone will find mistakes, everything from design to spelling, so please excuse me on that. Also, I dont have the greatest content, so this website acts as a journal of things I find interesting and things I do daily.

I really just want to know what people think of it. Any advise for me to consider or just comments. I am into the color brown at the moment so thats why it is themed out with that color.

Alot of the people who have been visiting my website likes the filling time links on the bottom left hand corner of my left column. Check out the archives. I had a few good laughts and bewildering moments. have fun.

Feel free to comment on the website as well. I appreciate it alot.

Looks good, shame about having harry potter on it tho, but I am sure that will go in time.

Looks pretty good to me

I think you may be missing part of a tag in the blog archives section. At the edit it says "/p>"

I think it would look better if the brown sidebars extended to the bottom of the middle column, or at least the same length

Speaking of brown, it may be your thing atm, but maybe consider having customisable colours?

Oh and theres nothing wrong with Harry Potter :p

Yeah, I was also thinking brown was bad.
But not as bad as Harry Potter.

HTML Validation Report

you appear to be use a mixture of HTML4 and XHTML code, I would recommend moving to XHTML, you would need to make all of your tags lower case, add the proper termination to empty tags like <img> goes to <img /> (with its attributes included in there of course) and <br> changed to <br />
then your doctype would need to be updated to say it was an XHTML document. Of course if you have something like DWMX then you can just take the code and tell it to convert it XHTML compliant code.

also you have a few bugs in your CSS file which prevents it from being valid as well
CSS Validation Report

site does look nice though

True geek, doesn't even look first, but goes and checks to see if it is xhtml compliant :p

potter? kill it.

Other than that, I agree with what others have said, except Khayman, standing up for potter is a sign of illness.

As if any english teenager wouldn't be trying to buy tinnies from spar and swearing at old people (especially those with big beards) - but then perhaps I had a different upbringing. In fact I did. I didn't do those things.

You Crazy! you all crazy people!

I'll take that as a compliment, I see a good website as one which is all around valid :)

btw just so you know, your website is Section 508 Compliant
your links are all valid, there is a warning in your forums link, as you should include the trailing slash, but that was the only warning. Though there are some link errors on other parts of your site, I think that as long as the first page is clear then you cant really be expected to manage all the other links in your site, especially when you take user input.
Also you appear to be WAI level 1 compliant, there are warnings on Levels 2 and 3
WAI Validator

Perhaps you could help me clear up these errors a little later?
(forgetting advert code as I not allowed to modify them!)

I might just do that, but now I am off to recompile firefox cause I feel like it

well that didnt take very long at all :p

*goes to run validation tests on osnn.net

Brown is bad on white use lilac (pale) or this yellow #FFFF00

Here is some code for your scrollbars:

<STYLE type="text/css">
<!--
BODY {
scrollbar-base-color:#6699CC;
}
-->
</STYLE>

scrollbar styling is pointless, it only applies to one browser and isnt valid CSS

Dang, that was alot to take in.

Well, I'll probably change the color brown sooner or later, but for now, im pretty happy with it (except for the fact that it shows up differently on different comps).

Not really a big fan of colored scrollbars, so im not going to add that in just yet, I feel it was a phase of the past.

Haha, yah Harry Potter is on it, but then I did say I didnt really enjoy the movie. so yah.

Ok im working on making at least the front page validate for XHTML and CSS. What is WAI?

Thanks everyone for giving some input

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
