Creative pc-dvd

Since installing XP My DVD drive does not work and I have to load everything through my CD-RW.
Its a Creative pc-dvd 5x. In device manager it is listed as Creative DVD5240E-1. Is this because it is not compatable with XP ?.
Device manager says that it is working ok.😕

Creative DVD 5X (DXR2) is not compatible with XP. It won't even run in compatibility mode.

I think that you are getting confused here, the Dxr2 will not work without a doubt - there is no driver for it, but the 5x DVDROM should work - thats the drive that I am using myself.
My best suggestion is to check you r hardware connections and your bios settings (or updates) - there is not a problem with the drive itself.

Yes, maybe I stated it wrong. I am using the drive , also. It's just the DXR2 card and DVD Encore that are incompatible.

Thanks for replying guys. Hardware connections are ok, but what bios settings do I look at ?
