ha!!

you know, when the pseudo experts were trying to tell everybody to lower their pagefile, everyone was reporting ie crashing all the time...nobody associated the two

mine too crashed back then

but since that myth ws proved harmfull, and most people now understand the folly of a small pagefile, ie hardly crashes at all.

mine has not crashed in who knows how long?

well, you can crash your ie with three strokes

hit control f (I'm counting this as one stroke)

now, type a word that is not on the page into the search box...it must be a word that is not on the page.(I'm counting this as the second stroke)

when the box pops up fininnished, hit f1

crash

tee hee hee

supposedly, this will crash on some boxes, and not others.

I have xp pro, amd processor

I just swapped out my ram, and am now running 256 for a while

I'd like to figure out why this crashes some, and not others, so if this does not crash your ie, then tell me your stats...maybe we can figure this one out, and it will give other benedfit

stats please pwerchunk?

also, you must make sure you do not close any of the windows before you hit f1

sorry I was just about to edit, but now that you posted:

Stats:
  • 80gig WD hdd w/ 8MB cache
  • 20gig WD hdd w/ 2MB cache
  • nVidia TNT2 M64 32MB graphics card
  • XP Home SP1
  • cable internet <--- not sure if thats important
  • 550mhz P3
  • IE6 SP1

re:

I didn't crash either, are you clicking match case or whole word or anything?

Specs:
OS: Xp Home
Cpu: Amd Athlon k-7 thunderbird
Ram: 768 DDR

nothing is checked

see screeny

you must hit f1 from this position

well, I guess more people do not crash then do, so this is probably not something we can figure out

oh well, carry on somewhere else then:confused:

AAAH what the heck?

Ok Dealer, you told everyone wrong. You said in your first post to press F11, not F1. My IE crashes when I push F1.

Your IE can last 3 strokes without crashing??? WOW hehehe

No crash on my system either =P

Well mine crashed:huh:

System stats:
XP pro
AMD 2100+
K7S5A MOBO
512Megs of pc2100

yup mine too... (using system 2 below, running Windows Server 2003 rc2 Enterprise, IE 6.0.3718.0)

Ok, I'm confused. Why does anyone feel they have to try to make a Micro$oft product crash? It just comes naturally.

:D Yep Crashed alright.
Dell GX240 (Standard System)
P41.7
512Mb PC133
Win2k Server Sp 3
IE 6.0.2800.1106 (128 Bit Encryption)

-Note this is at WORK.

Interesting... No crash here but then I'm running: (at work)

PII500
Win2K
IE 6.0
128 MB Ram

(like I need another reason to crash?)

you probably have a corrupt fll. Try opening up a DOS prompt and re-registering these dll's by typing in exactly and hitting Enter after each one:

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

You'll have to reboot. If it's still crashing try downloading the correct ver. dll's for your OS into your system32 folder. Then you would have to repeat above and reboot. This solved my problem.

I had shdocvw.dll crashing everytime, my version didn't match with IE6, I thought that was a new feature in IE6 SP1 ;-P
If all else fails, I'd do like Microsoft and reinstall

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
