if i uped my cpu voltage from say 1.65v to 1.85v and did not change anything else, would this hurt the CPU?

You'll sure heat up the cpu some, but I can't see it making anything run faster.

May i ask why??????

And yes the cpu would heat up... usually about 4 degrees Celcius every .05 volts...

Usually it is good to lower voltage to the point when the system becomes unstable (i.e crashes or doesn't boot) since it lowers cpu temp... which is better....

Well, just try to o/c it without changing voltages, and if you start getting boot problems and instability, then slowly put the voltage up. Yes it will create more heat but can help your stability at higher speeds. My celeron is running at 1.675 up from 1.475 and runs about 5 or 6 degrees hotter. I'm not sure on how amd chips tolerate voltage but i wouldnt push it too much higher than 1.8v for your chip. Yes it will shorten the life of your cpu, but not anything significant if you are upgrading in the next couple of years.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
