Cpu usage

My cpu is being used way to much. I have an athlon xp 1800+ on a shuttle ak31 motherboard. In small games and winamp visuals it uses 100% even using the smallest size winamp visualzations. any ideas?

alot of winamp visualizations such as geiss and them are CPU intensive rather then videocard intensive, there is nothing wrong with your chip..in fact geiss is written in pure x86 code and your CPU affects your quality with it alot more then your vidboard, not to mention alot of the visualizations use beat detection schemes and such to do the pretty things they do so that in turn eats more cycles 😛

besides if a app is using 100% of the cpu you can see that as a good sign in that nothing else is eating away at your cycles 🙂
