Need some advice: I built my system 4 weeks ago and used a dragon orb 3 cpu fan. The idle temperature was 60C and with heavy use 70C+. I thought this was rather hot, so i swapped it for a Themaltake volcano 7. The temperature still stayed the same. I now have a cooler master, but still the same temperature readings. AMD were vague about temperature settings and didn't help much. The reason i am asking is because a friend has a similar system which runs between 43C-50C with a cooler master. Are these normal operating temperatures, as i don't want to fry my CPU, or have i missed something. Any advice would be welcome.

Just a small point, I have been using a lot of these boards lately, and getting maybe 4 out of ten running hot. Except there not, I used an external heat sensor ( ie not the one built into the board)
and the chips all ran within 2-3C of each other.

I reckon it must be faulty heat sensors.

probaly a dumb question, but did you remove the thermal pad that
is on the bottom,i use the same fan and it keeps my cpu chillin!
that and artic silver work great.

Bytes back brings up a good point, some boards just don't show the right temp..the only thing that ever shows the correct temp for my board is the bios temp reader...if I use MBM it comes up with way off numbers.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
