does any body know of a program that will shut the pc down if the cpu temp goeos high only asking as my cpu fan stopped working and fried my athlon 2.2 - now a bit paranoid

Check your motherboard manufacturer, I know the one for Asus board but I don't know any other. There are a few that do it for motherboard in general but I've found them not to be very effective.....if you’re Asus check out THIS one on their official site, you could also get it off your driver disks that came with your mobo.

New Asus boards (like mine, A7N8X Deluxe) come with built in C.O.P. (CPU Overheating Protection).

Written on my mobo box
Asus C.O.P. is a hardware protection circuit that automatically shuts down the system power before temperatures go high enough to permanently damage your CPU.

no my motherboard is a gigabyte and it does not have a shut down function just a beep alarm if i am not in the room it is no good

Well I went rooting around and came back this program called "Motherboard Monitor" I've not tried it but it looks promising. Says it can turn of your PC once your temperature goes above set thresholds.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
