Couple Questions About Mozilla?

Been trying out Mozilla lately and I kinda like it, however before I make the switch i need to know of a good free popup stopper for Mozilla?

Also does anyone know how to change the max simultaneous connections to a server for Mozilla? This is a must since I use Sat Internet and it has very high latency and need to make the connections up to 16 or more to make surfing faster. This almost doubles my surfing speed.

Thanks for any help :)

Mozilla already has a pop-up blocker. Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Scripts & Plugins > uncheck Open unrequested windows.

As for the connections, it's set to a max of 24 by default, 8 per server. You can change this by editing prefs.js in your profile directory and adding the lines

user_pref("network.http.max-connections", 128);
user_pref("network.http.max-connections-per-server", 48);
user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy", 24);
user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server", 12);

You can change the numbers to suit you.

if you like mozilla, go for the latest pheonix.

it's a much faster, more configureable application

no actually phoenix sux... it takes away so many cool features of mozilla.. like Email and working offline (i can't find it)... maybe you won't need that for a permenant connection...

I like Mozilla but the speed issue is a problem. Even after tweaking for my connection still quite a dif from IE. Below are some tests I just done.

1: Page a forum posts on NTFS.org
Mozilla = 47 secs
IE 6 = 27 secs

2: Page from CNN.com
Mozilla = 25 secs
IE 6 = 21 secs

3: Page from Sportsnet.ca
Mozilla = 10 secs
IE 6 = 8 secs

4: Page from Warp2search.net
Mozilla = 12 secs
IE 6 = 15 secs

5: Page from NVmax.com
Mozilla = 12 secs
IE 6 = 8 secs

For some reason all NTFS Forum pages load slower, much slower as you can see. Prob should stick with IE 6 :D

I've tried mozilla on three differant pcs

I get the same results, pc

mozilla is the slowest browser I have tried
however, pheonix has comperable speed to ie

PC-Dude, have you enabled Pipelining?

Yes I did enable it :)

actually, i got better results than those... on a new account so that the cache thing isn't a factor.. What i noticed clearly is that in IE6 SP1 the page begins loading before than mozilla, but they always finish in the same time...

pipelining and everything

Maybe my Satellite software is more built for IE or something I don't know but there is a difference here for sure. I found that Mozilla started loading pages quicker but IE was much quicker at displaying the images and thus finished quicker. Just my experience :)

Any of the SP crew still out there?
