My harddrives are Western Digital. 😡 Not using them EVER again. I'm going to try the new maxtor ata133 drives.

i dont think its a bad hd.

you would have gotten some sort of error msg on boot up if your hd was bad. keep an eye on your folders, youll know right away if your hd is bad.....i know ms has an update for an unmountable boot error on hds, or whateva, im not sure this pertains to you...
of course you must know, that cs runs like my grandmother on xp
it shouldnt suprize you if your having issues with cs. if your hd was bad the game would say this is not a valid win32 app, or somthing along those lines. do a full surface scan, then check for viruses too.😉
