Convert .avi to .mpeg

Anybody know of a nice program that will convert.avi vids over to .mpeg?

and again that is found on catch23' vcd page put that will take you directly to there site i like there prog. works well never had any prob. plus vcd has a good page on help with that program.

Now my next question is this, how realible is that program, and am I going to be able to watch the converted vids in my DVD player?

TMPGEnc is an awesome little app, I used it to convert Quicktime movies to SVCD files..!!
