Hi,

Anyone knows how to change the information on the Sent and Received UNDER Activity in the Connection Status...

from Packets to Bytes???

I think in that screen XP counts them as the same, but I might be wrong seeing as mine never reports the correct number either way

coz i have seen some computer wif bytes while other is packets...

can the setting be changed???

I've seen that to. But tha was because I chanched the drivers on the card from windows original to the manufacturer's (3Com) drivers. Doesn't seem to work on all cards though.

And no, XP doesn't report packets and bytes the same way. It's hard to get past 1 mil packets. It's easy to get past 1 Mbyte or 1 Gbyte (if 1 packet = 1kbyte).

So, u mean the packets or bytes depends on the Software of the NIC card??

and btw did u say its hard to go over 1 million packets? Well... i dun think so... take a look at the gif files which show i have over 11 million packets received and sent in 1 day...

Yes, it is purely dependent on the driver. There is nothing else a person can do about changing it except writing the manufacturer about it.

Yes, well if you've been up 1 day 16 hrs it's no problem. Alot of people don't have the computer on all the time you know. My point anyway was that 1 mil packets take a while to reach whereas 1 Mbyte or 1 Gbyte can be reached in just a few minutes. Therefore packet != bytes.
