I'm pretty sure this is prior sp1.
When using the command prompt I can navigate in the partition I opened it in but if I try to change partitions or go to the cd rom I get this>
C:\cd D: gives me this
D:\

C:\

I can't get to the D drive. The attachment shows a bit more. Any suggestions?

Thats weird.... did you check to see if your drive letters got switched. Check thru Windows Explorer and or thru Computer Mangement. Just wondering if D:\ is now your CD ROM because that is a cd rom related error. If it couldnt detect the drive it would say 'Invalid Drive Specification'

HD - not sure I completely understand. The command to go from one partition to another is just the volume designation. IE, to go from c: drive to d: drive you would type:
d:

To change directories, you would type
cd \directoryname

Note there is a space adfter cd

If this isn't what you are having a problem with - or if it doesn't help - I should be around at the other place most of the day today....I'll be happy to try to work with you on it. Or you can email or PM.

That was it. Thanks allan. Like derrrrrr. I was getting the command mixed up.

I was a bit slower. I didn't figure this one out. Just kept going 'cd' enter ''cd' enter. Been trying for a couple of weeks now. Why can't this thread disappear?

Actually CD changes the directory. So if you are in d: and you type for example cd c:\documents and settings\local service it changes the active dir on C:, but your prompt stays on d:. Then when you type c: you will automatically go to c:\documents and settings\local service

Let me demonstrate:

C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService>cd \

C:\>d:

D:\>cd "c:\Documents and Settings\Lukas"

D:\>c:

C:\Documents and Settings\Lukas>

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
