Clock Speed?

Hello,

I have a Athlon 1700XP @ 1.47Ghz (stock)
it runs at 133 bus speed it says in the BIOS,

My bro has a Athlon 2000XP @ Stock too,

His clock speed in the BIOS says 133 also,

When I looked on a site it says Athlon 2000XP runs Advanced 266MHz Front-Side Bus,

Why does it say 133 then?

When I rang up my mobo company they said my computer can handle up to a 2.2Ghz processor, but all the other processors only have Advanced 266MHz Front-Side Bus or 333Mhz ?!!

It lets me adjust the clock speed in the bios up to 266 if I wanted but doesn't this put loads more pressure on all the PCI and AGP slots?

no mobo can handle that much
if ya bring it that much i reckon all your other components will die
if ya don have lock for it e.g pci,agp,etc..
just imagine your cpu runing at 11 * 266 = 2.9ghz

133x2=266 fsb
166x2=333 fsb

in market speak... a 133mhz clock becomes 266mhz fsb (double data rate)

it SOUNDS higher hence people think its faster

just like intel and their QDR ie... 100mhz clock == 400mhz fsb



your STOCK fsb clock should be 133 (or 166 or 200 depending on the cpu and also the motherboard and what it can handle)

anything above 133mhz == an overclock... and some components do not like an oc

if your motherboard does not allow you to lock your pci and agp clocks... I would be very careful how I oc the rig...
