I think the mathematical explanation to this is that if you take any two digit number, add both digits together and subtract the total from the original number, you will always get a number divisible by 9.

if you look at the numbers and symbols at the chart youl see all the numbers that are divisible by 9 have the same symbol (9,18,27.... 81).
