Changing Log on Method in XP - ERROR - HELP PLZE

I have been trying to use the feature of enabling the way a user logs on to XP. I keep getting an error.

The error is: "Automation server can't create object"

As soon as I click on 'change the way users log on or off' this error comes up. When I try to click 'Use the Welcome screen, the error comes up again. XP will not allow me to change back to the welcome screen logon, so I am forced to use the standard NT classic type logon. I have scoured the net for answers and MS knowledge base has nothing on this error. Has anyone got any ideas or help?

Thanks

It'll be a Service you've switched off, maybe "Fast user switching" or "Secondary logon" or some such. Run Services.msc and have a look around.

Thanks Dirk,

I had a look. Fast user switching is turned on and enabled. Secondary Logon cannot be enabled, it says the service is not installed?!?! Weird.

How do I re-install just the secondary logon service from the XP install cd?

Thanks again

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
