CDRW in PIO/DMA

why does my CDRW (NEC 7700 with all firmware updates) run better on PIO mode than DMA mode? like with PIO mode everything is fast and zippy.... with DMA.... it goes slow and the buffer bounces alot

i use nero 5.5.5.1

There could be a DMA conflict somewhere on the chain, have you tried moving the device to a different IDE port on it's own, or switched with another device to see if that helps?

yep.... the wierd thing is that nero recommended PIO over DMA, thats why i tried PIO in the frist place, cuz i was having problems burning...
