CD Update Hot Fix Q309691

I have problems with my CD-RW and have followed numerous fixes to no avail. The only fix I have not done yet is to remote the hot fix Q309691.
When I go into Add/Remove softgware this update does not show in order to remove it. It does show when I go to Windows Update and show installed updates.

The CD-RW works in Nero but not win xp writing. I have check properties, reg hack to set it as a "2" cd-rw, etc.

How do I remove the hot fix?

Have you made sure that your imapi cd burning service is set to automatic if you are trying to use windows drag and drop writing?
