CD-RW Driive Decision

I just got a call from a friend who is trying to unload his TDK veloCD 32/10/40 writer. It's only about 2 months old, and he is getting a new one. I was in the market for a burner anyway, and planned to buy a Lite-On 40/12/48 from newegg for 65. My friend offered the TDK for 50-60 bucks. I guess now I am having trouble deciding. Obviously, the liteon is faster, but there are so many other issues to deal with like read speed, dae, etc. I know that tdk typically has fast dae speeds, but I've heard that the lite on has performed well. I've been to cdrlabs and compared reviews, and it seems either drive would fit my needs. I guess I'm leaning towards the lite on, but I'm still not sure. Are there any things I may be overlooking? Has anyone had any bad experiences with either? Any issues with xp or nero (my primary burning software)Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) Lite-On's are no worse than TDK's

2) Ask yourself why your buddy is getting rid of it?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
