CD problem?

Sorry if this is a very stupid question, but when it comes to all this I am very stupid...
I want to be able to copy files to a CD. When I put in CDs to load new software etc everything runs fine. But when I click on a file I want to copy to CD and enter the Copy Items dialog box, there is no icon for CD drive. So, of course, I can't copy to my CD.
Am I missing something basic here? Or is there a problem - and, if so, does anyone know how to cure it?
Many thanks for any help.

If you mean you want to use the built in windows CD-burning so that you can drag and drop files into your cd-burner to be burned you have to make sure your IMAPI cd-burning service is on and that everything is set correct and that windows recognizes your drive as a burner.

Is that what you were trying to do?

Yes, that's exactly what I want to do!
How do I set it up, please!?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
