CD player in Linux through sound card

When i use cd player in fedora to play a cd...it doesn't play it through the sound card...but it plays it through the headphone jack on the cdrom...is there any way to easily fix this?

you need the little digital cable from the CD drive attached, linux doesn't use the IDE cable like XP does.
