Cant rename machines

Just re-ghosted a machine here (Client Server type network) and when i try to rename it I get error messages. This of course means I get duplicate names on the network.

Ive tried deleting the client machine from the Active Directory and so forth, but no joy.

The image works perfectly, and i dont have any troubles with any other images. Ive tried to rename other machines and those dont work either. We've also tried putting it into a workgroup then back into a domain...didnt work.

Anyone had this problem before? Or know where i can start to look for a resolution?

Sorry whats the clients OS?

does hostname -s work? (not avaliable on XP)

If its 2K / XP do not use the network id wizard use the change button and enter the new data, in particular the FQDN.
