cant find HDD

ok i rebuilt this computer and i am pretty sure that everything it pluged in right. but when i go to boot it up and i go into the bios it cant detect the hard drive or the cd rom, they are both getting power and they have the right jumper settings but it cant see eather of them,

can some one help me
system specs are:
soyo 5ehm main board
4gb maxtor
96mb sdram
voodoo 3 2000 video
LG 40x cd rom
350 mhz k6

cables the right way round,

not sharing the same cable ?

& is auto select enabled in bios ?

i ahve tryed the cables all ways and there is one cable going to the HDD and anouther cable going to the cd rom

ok i switeched the ied with anouther cable and it worked except not it just cant find the cdrom

ok i found the problem some jumper settings on the main board
