Can't create new folder in Vista

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, as I have been for 3 months now. Just lately, when I go to create a new folder, it says "the file or folder does not exist." It will let me create a new folder called "New Folder." It will not let me rename it, though. Anybody ran into this? Reps of course, to anyone with any tips.

Can you view the folder properties? Are things like permissions, owner and group all correct?

Hey EP! All good with me, applying for Microsoft MVP right now, should have done this a while ago.
