can't boot Windows XP on partition 2

I installed Windows 98 on partition 1 and Windows XP Pro on partition 2.
One day, i accidently formatted partition 1, then i install another Windows XP Pro on partition 1. But i can't boot into Windows XP on partition 2.
I've try make partition 2 active, then run fixboot and fixmbr from Recovery Console, but it dosen't work.
Although now i can access most of files inside partition 2 through Windows XP (partition 1), i still can't access files inside Documents and Settings\LauCN on partition 2. I think i need to boot into Windows XP (partition 2), and logon with my password in order to reach those files.
Those files are very important to me, and i won't easily reformat, nor reinstall with partition 2, unless there is no other ways out.
What should i do, so that i can boot into that Windows XP on partition 2, without losing my important files?
I highly appreciate all who view this problem and try to help, thank you.

Two possible solutions.

1-Boot to WindowsXP on the first partition and take ownership of the folders you can't access now.
In Folder Options disable "simple file sharing"(Last option on the view tab). Next right click the drive or the folders you can't access in explorer > sharing and security > security > advanced > owner. Change the owner to your username and check "replace owner on subcontainers and objects". Last reenable simple file sharing again.

2-Add your second XP installation to the boot.ini, either manually or using the bootcfg command from the recovery console.
Ntldr, ntdetect.com and boot.ini are on the first partition?

yes, those 3 files r on first partition, but no such files on partition 2.

your way works

thanks to yoyo, i use method 1, and now my problem solved.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
