cannot install xp

The new installation of xp professional update hangs (black screen) after loading drivers in this computer:

AMD Thunderbird 1 GHz
Biostar M7VKB
256 MB RAM

I tried updating to the latest bios and removing network card, CD burner or disabling audio... but with no results.

I will really appreciate your suggestions !

Might have a bad stick of ram....
