Can i safely Delete win98 folder?

 Heres the deal... I have a WD9.1GB HD and its very full. I've been deleting all unnecessary junk to free up space bc i only have 250mb free. I ran across my old win98 folder (i upgraded to XP home ed. from 98) which seems to have been heavily modified by the XP install. Most of the files in this folder seem to be some kind of compressed format backup. Can i delete this folder and its contents to free up ALOT more space or will i get shafted by doing this?

Issue2: i cant seem to use the Hibernate feature... the button is present but when it starts to hibernate it auto-reboots and then hangs on that restart. (my shutdown works just fine.. and shuts off automatically)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

try using disk cleanup in start->programs->accessories->system tools. It should give you the option to delete the backup of a previous operating system, which might be up to 500MB. As for the hibernation issue, i cant help

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
