The best free fax program Ive seen is @ www.v3inc.com/freecc.htm , have used it for about a year.
Its called "Call Center"

XP's fax service is a good one but it is featureless. The best all around I have found to be WinFax.

I didn't know it had one, I'll have to snoop around for it.

go here: start/all programs/accessories/communications/fax and you should find it there if not then you have to install it. Here's how: open control panel and click on 'add remove programs' in the window that opens click on 'add/remove windows components' It will take a few seconds to populate the list. You will see a list of programs you can install. Check the box next to 'Fax' and follow instructions. You will need your XP CDROM for this. Good Luck

For straight faxing of single or multiple documents, XP Fax is the way to go. If you need way more options, you will have to go third party. I use the XP fax (drop it in scanner, fax, done).
