burn audio but not data cd

Any ideas why I can copy audio cd but a data cd "crashes" in nero? Shows failed simulation. Both are tried at 16x

Have you been to windows update to get all the updates for your system? There's an update pertaining to CD burners that might be what you need.

thanks loman, I have all the updates, nero registered 5.564, disabled the built in burner in xp, etc.
can copy audio at 16, slowed down to 12x and was able to copy data disk.
Something still not right.
