i am using btornado and i want to be connectable but right now i'm not. i am using zonealarm and a d-link router. do i need zap along with the router to stay safe?

i've been to a site called portforward.com and they have a tutorial on how to get zap to work but it hasn't worked for me. does anyone have any suggestions?

thanks

Just forward the correct ports from the dlink router and allow them in za

BT works with routers and Zonealarm. If you're not connecting with BT there is either a setup problem or a problem with the Tracker you are trying to connect to.

I don't have to open any ports on my router and it is NOT set to DMZ.

When you try to use BT Zonealarm should ask you if you want it to allow you to connect. When you say yes you can make it for one time or forever.

Exactly what error message are you getting?

i have a dlink router.
it frustrates me to no end.

i keep coming across forum posts that say dlink is the source of all problems....and to go with a linksys.

My dlink causes no problems. Just set the virtual server up correctly (RTM)

i run the DI-624

i seem to have things under control now.
updated the firmware, read the knowledge base, etc

You can choose to not forward ports if your behind a router but you'll see increased speeds most likely if you foward them. Also if everyone else is behind a firewall you might not be able to connect to anyone.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
